Electronic Monitoring pilot project on a tuna longline vessel

A collaborative Video Electronic Monitoring pilot project on a tuna longline vessel operating in New Caledonia was launched in July 2015. The project partners include the Pacific Community (SPC), the government of New Caledonia (Direction des Affaires Maritimes de la Nouvelle-Calédonie – DAM), the Agence de développement économique de la Nouvelle-Calédonie (ADECAL), the fishing company Baby Blue (vessel La Renaissance), Satlink and DOS. With administrative support provided by ADECAL a control center was established in DAM offices where staff from the New Caledonia observer programme analyse the video footage using the Satlink View Manager software. DOS guarantees the functionality of the systems on-board the vessel and at the control center.
